Escaping to Freedom @purposejewelry

International Sanctuary’s mission is to empower girls and women escaping human trafficking to embrace their true identity and worth.
People talk about girlbosses all the time—from Tina Fey to NastyGal’s Sophia Amorosu to your best friend nailing her job interview in a co-ord Glen plaid ensemble. #girlboss #leanin #empoweredwomen But it’s got to take more than a clean, bullet-journalled planner and ambitious personality to earn that title, right? There’s got to be a sense of responsibility, a sense of selflessness in lifting other people up, not just ourselves. So if there’s anyone we’d like to think of as girlbosses, it has to be co-founders Stephanie Pollaro and Wendy Dailey of PURPOSE Jewelry and their non-profit, International Sanctuary.
The International Sanctuary empowers women and girls who have escaped human trafficking in a mission to embrace their true identity and a sense of self-worth. Their commitment to uplifting survivors is honestly so inspiring. Through their four locations in India, Uganda, Mexico, and the U.S., they’ve created four central and actionable pillars to personal development: Income, Education, Healthcare, and Community.
Income | The young women and girls who participate in the program receive regular paychecks and are taught how to open a personal bank account to save for their future.
Education |In addition to building English literacy, all survivors are provided access to reading, math, computer skills, life skills, and personal finance.
Healthcare | The sanctuaries provide access to ongoing healthcare as well as counseling, life training, and 1-on-1 mentoring.
Community | Each sanctuary location partners with like-minded organizations to build an amazing network where participants can foster new relationships, build trust, and personally flourish.
So when you shop at PURPOSE Jewelry, you’re not just getting a cute IG-friendly necklace. You’re getting to contribute to the growth and wellness of young women and girls across the globe. How amazing is that? Fighting for freedom never looked better.
